You work as a consultant for a global consultancy based in the City of London and you are asked to research a luxury brand and assess its approach in managing itself in light of the difficult market conditions that the luxury market is facing. The essay should cover the following areas: 1- Assess the current strategies, the luxury management approaches, and strategies the brand has been following manage its brand and ideally generate profits. The assessment should be backed up with evidence from secondary research data including industry reports, scholarly academic journals, and other reliable data sources.
2- It is vital that you critically refer to the academic literature for any theories, frameworks, or models on luxury brand management.
3- You need also to scrutinise the strength and weaknesses of such strategies (e.g managing its brand in the downturn, and during the financial crisis)
4- The overall conclusion of the paper is an evaluation of the organisation’s approach towards managing its brand.
5- You need to summarise the major issues that emerged from your analysis of the brand and present a short list of recommendations that could strengthen the company’s ability to manage its brand efficiently, and improve its profitability.
Essay Structure

Abstract (not included in the word count). It should briefly outline the scope of the investigation, the method(s) you used in your analysis, your findings, any important issues raised in the discussion, the conclusion and recommendations.
Table of contents (not included in the word count). Include also a List of Figures, and list of tables show the figure (table) number, caption and the page number, ordered as they appear in the text.
Introduction: This includes a brief overview of the brand: its products, and its current position in the luxury industry reflecting the various aspects of its performance in the last 5 years. Included also a short background about the brand. Note: It is NOT required to talk about the history of the company).
Appendices (not included in the word count). If needed: you could include the following: Any financial statements you used on the brand.Any figures, graphs, or data about the brand
References / Bibliography
You should also include a list of References that are used to collect information, all the referencing should be done according to the Harvard referencing system. The bibliography is a single list that should all the source material you have used to produce your assignment (whether you have cited it or not). You do not need to split the list into books and journals or references and bibliography. However, the majority of material in the bibliography should be referred to at some point in your work. Please ensure that you cite all your sources using Harvard format
Appropriate reading/ research
At MA level it is not acceptable to solely use text books as your main source material for this assignment. You should research from a range of sources particularly evidence based journal articles.
Use IM library sources as well MMU online sources which are available to you.
So, the brand that i chose is Chanel. U need to look at the time of world crisis from 2000-2009 and analysis the sthrategies that brand was applying to survive at that time.
So after Introduction u have to talk about strategies and describe them one by one, say what you think and what books think (means what in books says about what can happen when u applying this strategies). The conclusion is suggestions: was it good for a brand to use these strategies or you would apply different ones and should the brand contineu follow them.
