This week’s reading focuses on what it takes to be a strategic leader. Preview the document View in a new window. The author identifies 6 skills. Each of you should pick a different skill and discuss your ability in that area. For example, if you are skilled in a particular area, tell us why you think so. Give an example. If you are not skilled in a particular area, tell us how you can develop that skill. Also, tell us if you think the skills is really important to be a leader. Feel free to disagree with the author. What additional skill do you think is necessary to be a leader in your particular field. Finally, remark on a comment that was posted by a peer. Let’s review: This week, your post should: (1) pick one of the six skills and share your experience with that skill; (2) agree/disagree with the author’s assessment that the skill you selected is really necessary to be a leader in your field; (3) add/describe a leadership skill that was not mentioned in the article; (4) comment on two posts posted by your peers.
I want to add a challenge this week. There are six skills. I’d like the four of you–students enrolled in this class–to address each of the skills. There’s no duplication. If you can work as a team and are successful, I’m willing to add a 5 bonus points to this week’s discussion grade.
I have enjoyed reading your previous posts. Let me remind you to proofread your work. Some of you are losing points because of the presentation of your ideas. The rubric is available. Please look at the guidelines for this graded assignment.
