Policy brief on social protection on young orphan children in Zambia
The policy brief assignment will be structured around a case study of child and youth vulnerability and social protection. After viewing the documentary “Their Brothers’ Keepers: Orphaned by Aids” (Available on You tube) discussion will focus on analysis of the intersecting needs of children, youth and caregivers in vulnerable households and communities highlighting the care dynamics. The discussion will also entail a review of the range and adequacy of formal and informal social protection schemes. The related individual assignment will involve preparing and presenting policy advice regarding the adequacy of the care giving structures and implications for child sensitive social protection.
