The Leadership of Nelson Mandela
There are numerous historical figures that have done inspiring acts of leadership to change the prevailing systems within a country. One such figure is Nelson Mandela. His leadership caused the breaking down of the Apartheid movement in Africa. This paper aims to investigate the leadership qualities displayed and utilized by Nelson Mandela throughout his life that brought him to success in overthrowing the Apartheid movement. The leadership displayed by Mandela was a lifelong process. From childhood onwards, he was able to learn numerous values, which he gradually inculcated in his behavior and leadership style. Because of the long process of development of Mandela’s leadership, this paper will begin from the start of Mandela’s life and include the events that shaped and exemplified his leadership up to the time of his overthrowing of the Apartheid government. This paper will not tackle political ideas and concepts in detail. The focus will be kept on Mandela as a person and not on his political standpoints.
