Reading about the origins of foods and animals is insightful in many ways because the post informs audiences about the history of thee adoption of differnt cultures in countries like the US. It also presents puzzling information about the significance of items exchange on the developments of different nation’s cuisines. As it begins, the author alludes that many of the excellent food items originated from the United States (Norton 27). He cites that beans chocolate and corns as some of the staples that originated from the country, which is commendable. Although the explanation informs audiences about the role of exchange in the adaptation of different cuisines, the process exposes the writer bias. An example is the argument that without cotton, we would lack clothes. The statement is invalid because people use silk and wool amongst other materials to make clothes.
Despite some of the author’s sentiments being true, it would have been commendable to state the time for the exchange of the food items. It was also necessary to highlight the nutritional benefits of consuming the food as opposed to focusing on their role in the development of various staple foods. Nevertheless, I commend the reading for enlightening people about the events that have shaped the new world.
