Introduction
Michelangelo, whose real names are Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, was a renowned painter, architecture, poet, and sculpture. Born in March 1475 he was an engineer by profession and greatly influenced the growth and development of art. His paintings and architecture rank highly amongst the famous artists and sculptors who have ever lived. He is the finest acknowledged artist of the 16th century. As the architect and designer of St. Peter’s Basilica, he brought great transformation to the plan and outlook of the dome that was finished after his demise. His completion of the statue of David in Florence in 1504 proved his fame as a great sculptor with unusual skill and ability of representative imagination. Much of his personal life was described as a loner. He often withdrew himself away from the company of other men often described as a melancholy person and solitary. He took a great deal of time in painting and sculpturing in the Sistine Chapel that has most of his notable works. Some of his great works include; The fall and Expulsion from the garden of Eden, the creation of Adam, Last judgment, Gathering of the waters, God Dividing the light from darkness, Creation of the sun and the moon, and Creation of Eve.
