1. The Project – Your Organization’s External and Cross-National Relations

2. The System Theory/Model of Organization suggests that every organization is made up of four primary sub-systems: (a) Inputs/resources used in production such as materials, information, capital, labor, component, equipment, etc.; (b) processes of production/transformation where inputs/resources are transformed into marketable and value-added products/services; (c) outputs which are the products or services of value that the organization offers to the target segment in the market/society, directly or through intermediaries, which can be tangible products or intangible services or both; and, (d) relations with external environmental forces that impact and interact with every part of the organization – inputs, processes and outputs. Such external forces include upstream suppliers, downstream intermediaries, government and other public agencies, the public at large, macro-economic conditions, socio-political forces, and so on.

3. The location/sources of the external/environmental forces can be local, regional, national or cross-national/ international.

4. Part I: Use the System Theory of Organization, input-process-output-environment, prepare a presentation of your organization’s model, and identify its external and cross-national relations. Identify the relations as they pertain to each element in the model.

6. Part II: Using model in Part I above, and the identified relations, propose strategy to enhance your organization’s cross-national (international) relations. The strategy or group of strategies may address any component of your organization system. The purpose is to enhance your organization’s effectiveness.
