Introduction
Between July 1914 and November 1918, the world experienced one of the most tragic events in history. Eruption of World War 1 brought about several political, social and economic effects that were felt not only by the participating countries, but also the dormant ones. Although there are several events which led to the war, the causative factors are much varied and have formed the basis of endless debate. Essentially, the World War was caused by factors such as mutual defense coalitions, militarism, nationalism, quest for power as well as imperialism .
