Introduction:

Any essay that you write should always start with a brief and clear introduction which sets the scene; tells me what your essay is all about. It should contain three key pieces of information:

1) The Aim of your essay: this will reflect your interpretation of the essay title.

2) The Rationale for your essay: this will reflect your justifications as to why this is an important issue for study

3) The overall structure of your essay: this will reflect how the rest of your paper is to be set out/organised.

Suggested Essay structure:

As the essay requires you to discuss FOUR perspectives then the paper should have four sections;

As the essay is 2000 words, you know it should be about 500 words per section;

As you learnt in lecture 2, each perspective has four core components , this seems a logical way to present each section;

As there are 2 lectures/workshop to each of the 4 perspective, you know what material should be discussed in each section;

Conclusion:

Summarise your work, do not bring in new information

The conclusion needs to roughly 10% of the essay;

Perhaps you could discuss some of the commonalities across perspectives.

More instructions:

1) Make connection between perspectives;

2) Make critical comments about strengths/weaknesses of perspectives;

3) Explore issues not addressed by any perspective;
