Chapter 5 in Shine! Healthcare Leadership Distilled, discusses the fifth element of leadership – “Invest time, energy and effort at the front-end of change.” Change is a constant in healthcare; but, in general, change is not easily accepted by most. As a leader, being able to facilitate and lead change will be a challenge you will face frequently. Pages 70 and 71 discuss reasons for resistance to change and pages 82-85 discuss activities for leading change. What are your thoughts and experiences on these two sets of concepts regarding how a leader must use them in combination to successfully lead change? Share your experiences, either as the change agent or the one being led to change, related to these concepts. I will email Chapter 5 in the Shine textbook.
