Discuss the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

During our meeting on May 20, 2015, you admitted that you had music playing in your space while you were in University Towers Residence Hall on May 12, 2015. Based on the information gathered during this investigation, which includes your own admission, I have found you in violation of the Noise policy. Therefore, your actions were in violation of section (b.16) of Section 41301 of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations. Thank you for discussing this incident with me. I hope that the outcome of our conversation will support you and your success at San Diego State University.

I will write a 3-page paper reflecting on my past actions and how these actions have affected my status as a student at San Diego State University. This reflection will include the following information:

• A review of my disciplinary history; what violations have occurred, when and why?

• The consequences of each disciplinary incident.

• How my behavior has changed (or will change) as a result of the disciplinary action.

• What will happen if my behavior does not change and I am involved in another violation of the Student Code of Conduct.

This paper will be typed in a 12-point font, double-spaced with one-inch margins.

I further understand that in the event of subsequent proceedings based on new charges, these current charges will be deemed true and that the appropriate sanction, should I be found to have committed a new violation, may include a more severe disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or expulsion from the University.

I understand that this sanction will show on my record in the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities for seven years or, if I am expelled or suspended for more than one year, my record will be retained permanently. This record is protected under guidelines set forth in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

I understand that probation or suspension will be placed on my transcript for the duration of the sanction, but will remain on my transcript permanently if the suspension exceeds one year or if I am expelled. Should this sanction be the result of academic misconduct, I am prevented from taking this class over for course forgiveness.
