Critically evaluate one of the following Artist’s work, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, or Barnett Newman
A number of sources and readings have already been provided, attached in the specifications pdf. 2000 Word Essay. Lecturer prefers books and articles as sources than online, some online sources is fine. I was going to go in with the critique and argument of either Pollock, or Rothko, probably Pollock, as been widely considered successful and safe, because it was considered innovative, yet was safe and almost hypocrtical, with it being open to interpretation and less confrotational, more what the viewer gets from the work. Since then it has been easier for the elite to support it and abstraction / modernism. I haven’t had time to do my readings or write for it though, as it’s my last subject and I need a credit/distinction to keep my distinction average, so feel free to take whatever stance you think will be easier to write and discuss.
